John Fasullo, Project Scientist

Research

Dr. John T. Fasullo is a Project Scientist in the Climate Analysis Section and actively collaborates with various scientists, both here at NCAR (e.g. Dr. Kevin Trenberth) and elsewhere*. He obtained his B.S. in Applied and Engineering Physics from Cornell Univeristy and his Ph.D. from the Univeristy of Colorado under the supervision of Dr. Peter J. Webster. At present, Dr. Fasullo is actively researching topics involving:

  • observed energy and water cycles of the present-day,
  • simulated energy and water cycles of the 20th-23rd centuries,
  • climate change and its impact on the Asian monsoon and Indian Ocean biogeochemistry,
  • energy and water cycles during glacial inception.

His research interests include:

  • The Observed Global Energy and Water Budgets.
  • The Simulation of these Budgets by Global Coupled Models (e.g. CMIP3)
  • Tropical Dynamics and Meteorology with an empahisis on Monsoons.
  • Climate Change in the Eurasian/Indian Ocean Sector and its coupling with oceanic biogeochemical cycles.

*Other current collaborators include Drs. Joaquim Goes, Fei Chai, and Sergio Derada. Our project is aimed at understanding climate change in Eurasia and the Arabian Sea, and its impacts on oceanic biogeochemstry and ecosystems.
