Maria (Masha) Tsukernik, Post-Doc

Research

I am a post-doctoral fellow in the Climate Analysis Section, within the Climate and Global Dynamics Division at NCAR. I am working with Dr. Clara Deser and Dr. Michael Alexander. My interests are in the Arctic climate system and more specifically in sea ice/atmosphere/ocean feedbacks within the Arctic.

Education

  • Ph.D., Geography, University of Colorado, 2007, Dissertation title: "Characteristics of the winter cyclone activity in the northern North Atlantic and its impact on the Arctic freshwater budget".
  • M.A., Geography, University of Colorado, 2003, Thesis title: "Observational and modeling study of the proposed mechanism for the regulation of minimum mid-troposphere temperatures in the Arctic".
  • B.S., Geography and Earth Sciences, University of Massachusetts, 2001.
