December, 1995: The CAS Data Catalog

The World Wide Web version of the CAS Data Catalog has been gradually constructed throughout 1995. It incorporates all the information found in the old gopher catalog plus more. In a sense, it is all new. On the other hand, the data sets have remained unchanged. In this light, the "What's New" items will initially include changes to the data sets. Eventually it will also include changes to the catalog itself except minor changes as supporting documentation is added.

1 October, 1997: NCEP Reanalysis Mass, Moisture, and Energy Budget Products

New Product: A number of vertically integrated quantities including (but not limit ed to) data from NCAR Technical Note 430, "Evaluation of the Atmospheric Moisture and Hydrological Cycle in the NCEP Reanalyses" are available via ftp.

19 Jan, 1996: NCEP Reanalysis Pressure Level Means.

Update, Corrections, New Location: The pressure level monthly means from the NCEP reanalysis are now available from 1985 through 1993. The V winds which suffered from a minor problem due to OUR spectral processing error for 1985-1990, have been corrected. (The NCEP's problems near the poles remain.) This data set has been moved from /CA/NMC/MEANS/ to /CA/NMC/PRESS/.

7 Mar, 1996: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily

Update: The ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily upper air and surface data sets and the derived means have been updated through Dec 1995.

29 Mar, 1996: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 4 times daily

Update: The 6-hourly ECMWF TOGA/WCRP dataset and the derived monthly means have been updated through Dec 1995.

24 May, 1996: NCEP Reanalysis 6-hourly sigma level data and monthly mean pressure level data

Update: The 6-hourly NCEP reanalysis sigma level and monthly mean pressure level datasets are now available for Jan 1979 through Dec 1995.

6 June, 1996: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily

Update: The ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily upper air and surface datasets and the derived means have been updated through March 1996.

24 September, 1996: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily

Update: The ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily upper air and surface datasets and the derived means have been updated through June 1996.

23 December, 1996: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily

Update: The ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily upper air and surface datasets and the derived means have been updated through September 1996.

23 December, 1996: NCEP Reanalysis monthly mean pressure level data

Update: The monthly mean pressure level dataset is now available back to Jan 1973 (through 1995).

24 January, 1997: NCEP Reanalysis monthly mean pressure level data

Update: I have reprocessed data for 1985 through 1993 from the latest NCAR holdings. These data now include the corrected polar wind problem.

25 April, 1997: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily

Update: The ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily upper air and surface datasets and the derived means have been updated through December 1996.

18 June, 1997: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily

Update: The ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily upper air and surface datasets and the derived means have been updated through March 1997.

1 December, 1997: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily

Update: The ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily upper air and surface datasets and the derived means have been updated through September 1997.

25 April, 1997: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 4 times daily

25 February, 2000: ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily

Update: The ECMWF TOGA/WCRP 2 times daily upper air and surface datasets and the derived means have been updated through January 2000.

24 February, 2000: NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis Data

Update: The NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis 6-hourly sigma level data, derived monthly means are now available through July 1999/ June 1999 respectively.

16 February, 2000: NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis Data

Update: NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis monthly mean pressure level data are now available for 1958 through July 1999.

11 February, 2000: NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis Data

Update: The NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis 6-hourly pressure level data are available for January 1979 through July 1999.
