People at NCAR: Reto Knutti

Reto Knutti

Welcome to my personal Homepage. I used to be a PostDoc here at the division of Climate and Global Dynamics (CGD) of the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), located in Boulder, Colorado. In 2007, I have moved to the Institute for Atmopsheric and Climate Science (IAC) at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. My new website at IAC ETH with currently little content is here.

I started working with climate models of intermediate complexity, with a special focus on understanding the dynamics and relevance of the thermohaline circulation for the past as well as for the future climate. In recent years my focus has been on projections of future climate. We used large ensemble simulations to assess the uncertainty of future global warming. During my Postdoc year at Climate and Environmental Physics in Bern, I also worked on modelling the relationship of Greenland and Antarctic climate change during the abrupt and prominent Dansgaard-Oeschger events of the last glacial period. I'm currently working on probabilistic projections of climate change on both global and regional scales, derived from intermediate complexity and general circulation models used for the IPCC Fourth Assessment Report.
