    The original T42 ozone data was created by running the PCM, using input data
    provided by Jean-Francois Lamarque (lamar@ucar.edu) and then feeding the 
    output into the MOZART model at 20 year intervals - 1890, 1910, 1930, 1950, 
    1970 and 1990.

    The output at those intervals is available (as of Feb 2004) on the NCAR MSS
    under /LAMAR/IPCC:

    The ozone concentrations from the /LAMAR/IPCC files were extracted and then
    linearly interpolated in time from 1890 to 1990 using the six above datasets
    as endpoints. Each month was interpolated using the same month from the ap-
    propriate 20 year interval datasets (01/1920 is 0.5*01/1910 + 0.5*01/1930).

    The period 1870-1889 was created by replicating the 1890 data and correcting
    the time and data stamps.

    The 1990-2000 period was created by the following procedure:
    1) The NOAA data from 1990-2000 (see noaao3.122yr.IPCC.041299.nc) was inter-
       polated from its native 36x36L30 grid to the standard T42L18 grid. This
       interpolation was done in the same manner as MOZART does.
    2) The T42L18 data from 1991-2000 period was zonally averaged and scaled
       against the 1990 data, for all gridpoints. 
    3) Using the ratio data created in (2) and the MOZART tropopause height data
       from 1990, the 1990 MOZART data was scaled at each gridpoint and level
       to create the 1991-2000 period.
