Each month was interpolated using the same month from the ap- propriate 20 year interval datasets (01/1920 is 0.5*01/1910 + 0.5*01/1930). The period 1870-1889 was created by replicating the 1890 data and correcting the time and data stamps. The 1990-2000 period was created by the following procedure: 1) The NOAA data from 1990-2000 (see noaao3.122yr.IPCC.041299.nc) was inter- polated from its native 36x36L30 grid to the standard T42L18 grid.
