    Notes on original data:

    These files contain gridded SO2 emissions from 1850 - 2000 with annual 
    resolution. The gridded emissions estimate is provided for each year, 
    with emissions divided into four seasons and high and low for each season.
    The gridded emissions were derived from a historical reconstruction in 
    17 world regions. The emissions were gridded by region, height, season, 
    and source category -- based on the EDGAR SO2 emissions grids. The source 
    categories are: Coal, Oil, Nat Gas, Metal Smelting, Other Ind Proc, Trad 
    Bio, Land-Use, Other.
