The Clouds and Microphysics Task Group exists to facilitate community involvement in the cloud physics parameterizations of the next generation of the Community Atmosphere Model (CAM) as part of the Community Climate System Model (CCSM) project. The group works under the Atmosphere Model Working Group (AMWG) and the Chemistry-Climate Working Group (ChemWG).
We invite those working on cloud processes, cloud microphysics aerosols and cloud chemistry in CAM to participate in the group over the next 3-4 years.
Progress and plans are being guided by a Roadmap which was developed at the Workshop on Respresenting Microphysics in Global Models in November 2005. This has been updated at microphysics sessions during the March 2006 AMWG spring meeting and the June 2006 CCSM workshop.
The group is lead by Andrew Gettelman (NCAR), Steve Ghan (PNNL), David Mitchell (DRI) and Peter Hess (NCAR).
