High Resolution Climate and Forecast Simulations of the Madden Julian Oscillation (MJO) High horizontal resolution simulations (0.25 degreee) using CAM5 are used to examine the mean climate simulation and CAPT forecast experiments. The Summers of 1997 and 2005 are investigated to examine the impact of high resolution on the MJO inititation in the Indian Ocean. 1998 is a year with significant MJO activity and 2005 was a low hurricane season in the West Pacific. (here). Below shows the mean rainfall simulation of the summer of 1998 versus observed for each resolution.
