Windows: Mapping a Network Drive

How to Map a Network Drive

This will only work if you are on the CIT domain.

  • Go to the start menu and select the Computer icon.
  • Select Map Network Drive in the Menu bar
  • Under Drive, change the letter to DRIVE LETTER (see below)
  • Under Folder, enter: PATH (see below)
  • Check the Reconnect at Logon box.
  • Click Finish.

F: FTP pub directory \\nfs-f.cgd.ucar.edu\ftp
H: Home directory \\nfs-h.cgd.ucar.edu\~username or
\\nfs-h.cgd.ucar.edu\home\username
N: /fs directories \\samba.cgd.ucar.edu\fs
O: /project directories \\samba.cgd.ucar.edu\project
P: Personal Web Directory \\nfs-w.cgd.ucar.edu\public_html\username
S: Shared drive (everyone's home directory) \\nfs-h.cgd.ucar.edu\shared
T: CESM Web drive \\cesmweb.cgd.ucar.edu\cesmweb
W: Web-data \\nfs-w.cgd.ucar.edu\web

Note: username means your login name for CGD systems.

How to Disconnect a Network Drive

  • Click on the Computer icon in the start menu.
  • Under Network Location heading right click the drive and select Disconnect.
  • Select OK.
  • The Drive should be unmapped.
