CGD,

Over the past 4-5 weeks many people have noticed random slowness
in CGD compute systems. This may have been an 'ls' taking 15 seconds
or checking/e-mail seeming to churn. The source of the problem
was traced to our DNS and YP servers not keeping up with the load.

These servers have now been replaced and the sluggish behavior fixed.
Despite a week of testing there have been problems. A configuration
error on Monday caused login and some bounced mail for 15 minutes.
Early this morning one of the new servers crashed at 1:45am, again
causing bounced e-mail and login problems. Automatic fail over
procedures only partially covered the problem. We will continue
to work on the issues.
