Wed 9 Nov 2011 6:00am - 9:00am E-mail restructuring for every single e-mail folder in CGD. Many of you have experienced corrupt mail boxes with more frequency during the past year. This is due to the increasing size of all of our mail boxes, the increasing devices that access e-mail (laptops, phone, tablets) and 20 year old e-mail technology. On Wed 9 Nov 2011, CGD/IS will re-organize e-mail division wide. This will be an 'all or nothing' situation...either everyone moves forward, or no one does. CGD e-mail will be down during the transition which will cause delays for incoming e-mail, but not lose it. An extra backup of all e-mail will be made at this point and kept one month in the event anomalies are found. Once the transition is complete, e-mail should be safe for phone, tablet and other slow-network means of access. One notable change: your Inbox will now be stored in your home directory...no more separate quotas for incoming mail and home. Home quotas will be increased by 1GB to accommodate for the extra usage. Let us know if there are any questions or comments. -- Mark --0- ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Mark Moore UCAR/NCAR/CGD mmoore@ucar.edu 1850 Table Mesa Drive (W) 303 497-1338 Boulder, CO 80305 (F) 303 497-1324
