POP Protocol Turned Off ----------------------- The POP (Post Office Protocol) for e-mail client support will be turned off on CGD e-mail servers....permanently. All users within CGD have been contacted, and their mail converted. This message is a formality. FTP Server Migration -------------------- The FTP server will be down briefly while the function is transferred to backup test hardware. E-Mail Server Network Re-Config ------------------------------- Both CGD e-mail servers will be switched to gig-e lines that are 1-hop closer to the core switches. This will hopefully reduce some of the wait times currently experienced with reading e-mail. Removal of /project/* and /fs/cgd/* Directories from Web Server --------------------------------------------------------------- With the exception of /project/ccsmweb, all /project/* and /fs/cgd/* will be removed from the web server, and no longer available for soft-links into /web/web-data. This is being done to increase the stability and security of the web server. /web/web-data/amp Addition to Web Server and Unix fstabs --------------------------------------------------------- The web directory /web/web-data/amp will be added to the web server for the newest CGD section, and all Unix /etc/fstabs updated to properly mount the partition. /web/web-data Expansion ----------------------- The following web partitions will be expanded to accommodate growth in web data. Also, any data that is soft-linked from /project/* or /fs/cgd* directories will be copied to the web server.
