NCAR/CGD Systems Work

work will seriously impact any planned computing.


Unmount /var/mail
-----------------
The central /var/mail will be umounted from all CGD general use
and desktop Unix systems. E-mail client access from this point on
will be via the IMAP protocol.

Linux /contrib push
---------------------
An updated NCL version (5.0.1) will be installed.

Linux OS Upgrades
-----------------
The following systems will have the OS upgraded and be rebooted.

	Poorman
	Salina

Removal of old Firefox and T-Bird versions
-----------------------------------------
Old versions of Firefox and Thunderbird software will be removed.
Users should continue using the current versions installed in
/usr/local.

Brief Down Time
---------------
The following systems will be down briefly for migration to
a new server.

	FTP
	DHCP Server
