PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Advanced Study Program (ASP) Postdoctoral Fellow, National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), September 2006-present

  • Conducting research in the Terrestrial Sciences Section (TSS) of the Climate and Global Dynamics Division (CGD); current project involves using the Community Atmosphere Model (CAM) to look at the sensitivity of African easterly waves and Sahel diurnal cycle of rainfall to land surface changes
    • studying the interaction of vegetation dynamics with desert dust and Sahel precipitation using CAM forced either by observed sea surface temperature (SST) or coupled with interactive SST from the Slab Ocean Model (SOM)
    • providing CAM simulations for the West African Monsoon Modeling and Evaluation   (WAMME) project from the perspective of the impacts of desert dust aerosol on monsoon precipitation
    • using CAM model simulations to examine the dependence of convection on land surface fluxes and how it impacts West African easterly waves and Sahel diurnal cycle of  precipitation

Postdoctoral Research Assistant, Howard University, May 2006-August 2006

  • Duties included conducting and writing up of research from PhD dissertation for publication

Graduate Research Assistant, Howard University, May 2003-May 2006
