Samuel Levis

I am a project scientist in the Terrestrial Sciences Section of NCAR's Climate and Global Dynamics Division. As a member of Dr. Bonan's research team, I am involved in the development of the Community Land Model (CLM). In parallel to the development work, I support collaborating users of the land model, by providing them the code and data sets necessary to run. Other users may contact me with questions about the land model.

Since 1/99 I have accomplished the following:

- Coupled the CLM to the global river routing scheme of Branstetter and Erickson (2003)
- Tested coupling the land model to the high-resolution river routing scheme of Coe (2000)
- Added to the land model the dust emissions and turbulent dry deposition model of Zender (2003)
- Added to the land model volatile organic compound emissions according to the model of Guenther et al (1995) (Levis et al, 2003)
- Put together new data sets of land cover and soil texture as part of the land model's boundary conditions (Bonan et al, 2002)
- Coupled the land model to the Dynamic Global Vegetation Model of Sitch et al (2003) (Bonan et al, 2003)

Of the above progress, items 1 and 5 have made it into the May 17th 2002 release of CCSM2.
