PMIP2 Workshop


We look forward to seeing you at the PMIP2 Workshop to be held on Septermber 14 - 19, 2008 at Aspen Lodge in Estes Park, Colorado.

The workshop will focus on the analyses by PMIP2 subprojects of the coupled atmosphere-ocean and atmosphere-ocean-vegetation model simulations for the Last Glacial Maximum and mid-Holocene, and the evaluation of these results using new and existing data syntheses. [agenda]

This workshop will also be the kickoff of the next phase of PMIP2 with four proposed future themes: evaluation of Earth System Models for 6 ka and LGM, interglacials and warm periods, abrupt climate change, and measures of model skill in simulating paleoclimate conditions. [agenda]

Air, Lodging, Meals and Ground Transportation

All workshop participants are responsible for securing and paying for their own travel, including airfare, ground transportation, and hotel/meals. Securing hotel reservations is handled through the online registration.

Aspen Lodge has room accommodations for 50-60 people. Please register early to secure a room! Registration deadline is 1 August 2008.

Please note: We are in the process of possibly securing funding to reduce the lodging/meal costs. We will post this on the website soon as possible. Be sure to indicate on the online registration form, if you would like to be considered for this possible assistance.

Most participants will fly into Denver International Airport (DIA).

Aspen Lodge in Estes Park, Colorado is an all inclusive facility. The lodging/meal rate per night is $227 for a single room with private bath and $154 for a double room with two beds with shared bath. You will be responsible for paying for your lodging and incidentals upon check out.

Located only an hour and a 1/2 from Denver, CO, Aspen Lodge is worlds apart, yet easily accessible. The Ranch Resort is situated in the Tahossa valley on Twin Sisters Mountain across from Longs Peak and the Rocky Mountain National Park. Aspen Lodge is on the Peak-to-Peak Highway (Hwy 7), just seven and a half miles south of Estes Park. Situated on 85 acres, the resort property includes mountain meadows, deep forests of evergreen, and a shimmering mountain lake that is used in the summer for fishing, boating and kayaking.


All meals will be provided at Aspen Lodge. Please let us know of any dietary requests/restrictions when completing your online registration.

Talks and Posters

Please provide the title of your talk on the online registration form. We will need to transfer your talk to a main laptop before your presentation. We will have USB sticks available.
