The scientific and research engineering appointments process at NCAR provides the institution with the intellectual leadership necessary to identify, direct, and contribute to solving the most important and challenging problems in atmospheric and related sciences.

The ARG is a committee of Senior Scientists and Senior Research Engineers charged by the NCAR Director to review nominations of level III and senior level ladder-track scientists and research engineers and make recommendations to the NCAR Director. ARG membership is a three year term. The Chair and Vice Chair/Chair-Elect are elected by the ARG; each position is a one year term.
