Main content
Over the past years, Long Short-Term Memory networks (LSTMs) saw an exponential increase of applications in the field of hydrology, with most of those in the area of rainfall-runoff modeling. In this talk we will revisit what LSTMs are and why they might be specifically suited for this application. Further, we look into some of the recent research that builds the foundation for Google's operational flood forecasting model. Lastly, we'll discuss our ongoing research on spatially distributed modeling.
