Abstract This report summarizes the 2024 joint CLIVAR OMDP and COMMODORE Ocean Model Development Workshop in Boulder, Colorado. The workshop brought together international scientists and early-career researchers to address challenges in ocean modeling, including persistent biases in critical regions and the integration of machine learning approaches. Key priorities identified include expanding observational campaigns, incorporating missing ocean physics, developing energy-consistent parameterizations, and advancing ultra-high-resolution modeling using GPUs while supporting the next generation of model developers.
