Now, perhaps more than ever, scientists, research organizations, and many funders are yearning to create knowledge that is “actionable.” This has led to growing interest in how new or different “models” for doing science, such as knowledge co-production, can improve how scientific knowledge is made and used. In this talk, Dr. James Arnott will share work from his own research on science funding and from a broader collective of social scientists working on the “science of actionable knowledge.” He will showcase different models that have emerged throughout history and the present day, and how we can apply science and scholarship to better understand and improve the way we produce science to meet societal needs.
